Johor supports Felda settlers with schemes worth RM12.3mil

JOHOR BARU: The state government has announced eight special initiatives worth RM12.3mil to support the development and well-being of Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) settlers.

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said this includes Aidilfitri grants worth RM5,000 each for all 73 Felda settlements statewide.

“We have allocated RM10,000 to each Felda Settlers' Development and Safety Committee, and another RM5,000 each to its Women's Movement Association (GPW) statewide.

“On top of that, grants worth RM7,500 each will also be allocated for each Felda planning office across Johor,” he said in a statement on Facebook on Monday (March 9).

He added that the state government would also distribute food baskets to families and Felda staff living in the settlements statewide.

“We will also allocate RM200,000 to the Johor Felda Muafakat Secretariat and continue the special Haj quota for 10 Felda settlers.

“Also to be continued is the special interest-free education loan quota from the Johor Education Foundation for 50 Felda youths to pursue higher education,” he said.

Onn Hafiz said the special allocation was announced during a buka puasa event with the Felda community involving close to 1,500 people on Sunday.

“The allocation is to support the development and well-being of the Felda community in the state.

“This is also in line with ongoing efforts to ensure the welfare of settlers is preserved and that the community continues to progress and remain resilient,” he said.
