Hyatt Regency has returned to the Klang Valley following the launch of its five-star hotel within Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur.
Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown marks the re-entry of the brand following the closure of its Saujana property in Shah Alam, Selangor, in 2005.
The 32-storey hotel comprises 306 rooms and suites. Standard rooms measure 42sqm and come with floor-to-ceiling windows offering city skyline views.
KL Midtown is a 3.6ha mixed-use development by Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd and Naza TTDI (the property arm of Naza Group), which sits within KL Metropolis, a 30.55ha master development by Naza TTDI undertaken through a public-private partnership with the Federal Government.
Facilities include an infinity pool, Regency Club Lounge, multiple dining outlets and 24-hour fitness centre.
There are also extensive meeting and event spaces spread across three floors, including a 1,000sqm pillarless ballroom, 16 meeting rooms and courtyard for outdoor functions.
For extended stays, there are 104 serviced residences ranging from 65sqm, and access to a dedicated pool, Kidz Club for families and other amenities tailored for longer-term guests.
The hotel is directly connected via walkway to Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) and an under-construction mall.
Naza Group of Companies deputy chairman SM Faliq SM Nasimuddin said Hyatt Regency was the first operational component of the broader KL Metropolis development.
“Our vision is to create a hub where trade, commerce and living integrate within one bustling development.”
Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd chairman Thomas Karl Rapp said,“This is our third hospitality project with Hyatt International, following Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu (Sabah) and Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur.”
Hyatt Hotels Corporation Asia-Pacific group president David Udell said its location across from Mitec positioned the hotel as an ideal choice for business and leisure travellers.
Present at the launch were Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown general manager Till Martin, Hyatt Hotels Corporation Asia-Pacific operations senior vice-president Andrew Mensforth, Naza Group of Companies chairman SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, Hap Seng Land Property Management director Manfred Weber, Hap Seng Consolidated managing director Datuk Edward Lee, Hap Seng Consolidated non-independent non-executive director Datuk Simon Shim and the hotel’s architect Kengo Kuma.
