Nearly 1km of drains being upgraded in Tanjung Malim

New drain covers installed in Tanjung Malim town as part of the upgrade.

Drains in Tanjung Malim, Perak are currently being upgraded.

Tanjung Malim District Council (MDTM) president Dr Shazree Idzham Wahab Abdul Rahman said the drain infrastructure was being repaired after years of wear and tear.

“Drains are currently being repaired and upgraded.

“Areas that have been dug up will be resurfaced and cleaned.

“Work will be done in phases, with locations that often have flash floods prioritised,” Shazree Idzham said in a media statement.

He added that work was scheduled to be completed in October.

He said the locations included the town centre, Jalan Ketoyong, Rumah Awam 1 and 2 as well as Taman Malim.

“Nearly 1km of drains will be upgraded, including replacing damaged drains, installing new covers and construction of new kerbs.”

Apart from drain upgrading works, Shazree Idzham said landscape beautification would also be carried out.

“Trees and flowering plants will be planted on empty spaces of land.

“We want our town to look beautiful in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026,” he added.
