FOR many bedridden patients, the difference between staying in hospital and recovering at home with family sometimes comes down to one thing: a reliable supply of oxygen.
Eco World Foundation helped make that possible for needy patients by handing over seven oxygen concentrators worth RM36,000 to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Lifelink Seribu Kasih (LSK), a charity that provides healthcare support to patients in their own homes.
Established in 2024, LSK is a welfare organisation that cares for patients at home, including those who are bedridden.
In addition to oxygen concentrators, it lends out hospital beds, wheelchairs and other mobility aids.
It also provides nutritional and consumable support, such as medical milk and feeding supplies.
Since its founding, LSK has delivered support in 379 cases, ranging from equipment loans to physiotherapy visits and care guidance.
It currently has 25 patients under regular monthly care and works alongside welfare homes, including Ti-Ratana Welfare Society and Persatuan Kebajikan Sayap Kasih Malaysia.
Foundation chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye handed over the concentrators to LSK chairman Siah Mun Yee at a ceremony at the organisation’s premises in Kuala Lumpur.
Lee said that for a bedridden patient, a reliable supply of oxygen can mean being cared for at home, surrounded by family, rather than spending long periods in hospital.
“That matters greatly to the patient’s comfort and dignity, and it eases the burden on families who are already doing their best to care for their loved ones,” Lee said in a media statement.
“LSK has reached hundreds of patients who might otherwise have gone without this kind of support.
“Their commitment is truly commendable.
“We are glad to be able to support LSK and hope these concentrators will help it continue this noble work and reach even more patients in need.”
Also present at the ceremony were Eco World Foundation Board of Trustees member Prof Zahari Ishak and LSK founder Siah Chee Teck.
The donation is the latest in a series of healthcare contributions made by the Foundation this year.
Earlier this year, it donated five hospital beds to the Charity Food Basket Society Klang to support its home-care service.
In August, it contributed RM115,000 to Hospital Rehabilitasi Cheras to support patient care and medical equipment upgrades.
On Oct 15, it contributed RM108,000 towards two haemodialysis machines for Yayasan St John Ambulans Malaysia, helping more kidney patients receive the regular treatment they need.
