THE inaugural Institute of Future Technology and Design (IFTD) Forum and Workshops will take place from Aug 23 to 27 at HELP University’s campus in Kuala Lumpur.
A collaboration between HELP University and Hunan University of Technology, the initiative aims to advance innovation, sustainability and human-centric development in a circular economy.
Both institutions are also launching a dedicated institute at HELP University.
This alliance aims to address the critical challenge on rethinking packaging and design for ecological resilience, technological progress and inclusive growth.
The forums and workshops will explore seven key themes that merge ecology, technology and creativity to replace linear waste with circular regeneration.
The sessions will cover topics ranging from sustainable materials and eco-design to smart packaging that utilises technologies such as QR codes, RFID, sensors and supply-chain transparency.
The discussions will also delve into circular design, with a focus on assessing product life cycle impacts and the implementation of regenerative systems.
Additionally, the forum will explore the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and green manufacturing, highlighting key topics such as automation and low-energy production methods.
Consumer engagement will also be a major area, featuring topics such as branding, ethics and promotion of sustainable behaviour.
The forum aims to drive transformation in talent development and business transformation by converting circular packaging into a competitive advantage.
It will also address ecological repair, concentrating on designing systems that restore nature.
This forum will give Malaysia an opportunity to play a central role in the ecology of technology design and packaging.
The IFTD partnership offers opportunities in co-developing courses in packaging innovation and sustainability as well as a China-Malaysia innovation corridor for research and development and start-ups.
The forum also serves as an opportunity to showcase innovation by presenting cutting-edge research in design, packaging and sustainability.
In addition, it provides a platform to build partnerships by developing strategic alliances for circular economy solutions, access to talent with connections to the next generation of sustainability professionals and offers an opportunity to influence policy to shape the future of sustainable packaging standards and practices.
