Burst pipe along LDP causes water cuts in parts of Petaling Jaya

PETALING JAYA: A burst pipe near the cable bridge along the Damansara–Puchong Expressway (LDP) yesterday (Aug 10) has led to water cuts in several areas in Kelana Jaya and Petaling Jaya.

When contacted by StarMetro, a spokesperson from Air Selangor said that, as of 4pm today, approximately 60% of the pipe repair work had been completed.

However, water supply is only expected to be fully restored by 9am tomorrow (Aug 12)

Affected areas include SS7, Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, PJU 1A Kelana Idaman, SS3, Hyatt Saujana / Saujana Glenmarie, Jalan U1/13, Citta Mall, and Taman Perindustrian Hicom Glenmarie.

Air Selangor said the delay in repairs is due to the length of the burst pipe segment — approximately 25m — and the presence of multiple utility company pipes at the site, which made excavation difficult.

It said a 600mm asbestos cement (AC) pipe had burst.

The spokesperson said water tankers have been deployed to the affected areas since 8am on Aug 10 to provide emergency water supply.

“Water delivery via tankers is ongoing and will continue until the repair work is completed and the supply is fully restored,” the spokesperson added.

A Kelana Jaya resident, who only wished to be known as Valli, said she had been experiencing disruption in water supply since last night (Aug 10).

“Residents have been checking the Air Selangor app. We are still waiting for water, and I’ve bought bottled water for consumption,” she said.

Valli also complained that water tankers were sent to her area in SS7 during the daytime, when most residents were at work.

“I have no choice but to buy 5-litre bottles of water until supply resumes,” she added.
