DBKL to provide temporary housing for Pantai Dalam fire victims

KUALA Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has been asked to look into providing temporary housing for fire victims in Pantai Dalam.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said those affected were being housed at a nearby school.

“However, as the schooling session will start soon, we will have to relocate them to a community centre,” she said when met on Saturday (Aug 9).

“I have also asked DBKL to look into providing the victims with temporary housing, in addition to basic necessities,” she added.

Zaliha said she was made to understand that more than 60 people were affected, including locals and foreigners.

The fire, which broke out at about 11pm on Thursday (Aug 7), reportedly destroyed 14 squatter homes and four shops.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department, some 80% of the residential area spanning 0.074ha was destroyed in the incident.
