Early morning blaze destroys two PPR units at Jalan Pantai Dalam, no casualties reported

KUALA LUMPUR: Two residential units at the People's Housing Project (PPR) at Jalan Pantai Dalam were destroyed in a fire early Friday (Dec 26) with no casualties reported.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations Commander PBK I Mohd Anuar Mohd Khalid said the blaze involved two units and was brought under control using the building’s wet riser system, supported by water from fire engines and hose reels.

"We received an emergency call at 5.11am via the MERS NG999 system, prompting firemen from the Pantai Fire station, assisted by teams from the Seputeh and Jalan Hang Tuah stations, to be dispatched to the scene," he said in a statement on Friday.

He said the fire was brought under control at 5.53am, with the unit where the fire originated sustaining 100% damage, and an adjacent unit sustaining about 60% damage to its roof.

"The fire was fully extinguished at 8.07am, and the cause of the incident is still under investigation by the Fire Investigation Unit," he added.
