AGC not confined to legal matters, actively engages with community, says Mohd Dusuki

KOTA BARU: The Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) is not confined to handling legal affairs, but is also committed to community outreach to assist the public, says Attorney General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar.

He said the AGC's participation in the Madani Adopted School Programme reflects its commitment to contributing expertise and support to society, particularly in meeting educational infrastructure needs.

He noted that certain quarters had questioned the involvement of government agencies in such initiatives, including raising the matter in Parliament.

"We cannot just sit in the office. We also need to go down to the ground to help the community. I believe this earns spiritual rewards, and it is encouraged in Islam,” he said when speaking at the launch of the AGC Madani Adopted School Programme at SK Pasir Hor here Sunday (Nov 1).

Under the programme, a RM100,000 government allocation was used to carry out physical and digital upgrades at the school, with four key projects completed for the benefit of pupils and teachers.

The projects comprise the development of the Puan Sri Nik Karthini Resource Centre Digital Hub, the setting up of the School Resource Centre TV Studio, the upgrading of Dewan Aspirasi with the installation of 12 industrial fans and a new sound system, and the construction of Anjung Dusuki for Special Education Integrated Programme (PPKI) pupils.

Mohd Dusuki said the projects were implemented through close cooperation between the AGC and the school administration following several coordination meetings to identify infrastructure needs and prioritise pupils' welfare.

He added that the programme reflects the government's aim to ensure national development is not confined to urban centres, but is also felt by grassroots communities.

Meanwhile, Mohd Dusuki said the AGC also intends to contribute through knowledge sharing on legal awareness, character building, and instilling values of integrity among pupils from an early age.

He hoped the initiative would help ease the burden on teachers in shaping students' character and producing a generation that not only excels academically, but also possesses moral strength.

He also urged SK Pasir Hor pupils to make full use of the new facilities, study diligently, and follow the advice of their teachers and parents.

Also present were Education Ministry Deputy Director-General (Professional Development Sector) Datuk Amzan Abd Malek and Kelantan Education Department director Siti Norina Muhamad. - Bernama
