Charity bazaar returns to highlight hospice care, importance of dignity for patients

November will see the return of Hospis Malaysia Charity Bazaar to raise funds for free palliative care services.

The event at Stella Maris International School Damansara in Kuala Lumpur will be on Nov 14, from 8am to 4pm.

Hospis Malaysia in a media statement said the charity bazaar served as a platform to highlight that professional palliative care could bring profound positive impact, comfort, dignity and quality of life to patients and families facing serious illnesses.

It is also a vital bridge connecting local businesses with a conscious public.

What began years ago as a humble cluster of volunteer-run stalls has evolved into a highly anticipated community event, said the non-profit organisation that provides palliative care to patients.

It said the 2026 edition would host more than 80 vendors, offering a rich spread of local delicacies, artisanal crafts, fashion, live music and family-friendly activities including a petting zoo.

“This incredible evolution belongs entirely to our community,” said Hospis Malaysia chief executive officer (CEO) Dr Ednin Hamzah.

“We are grateful to our enduring event partners, especially Stella Maris International School Damansara, which has generously opened its campus to host and support this bazaar year after year.

“We are equally indebted to our community partners, vendors and corporate pillars such as YTL Hotels, Cuckoo International and The Estee Lauder Companies, which have championed our cause by supporting us and extending generous gift donations for our lucky draws.

“Their combined loyalty sustains our work in the community, ensuring our critical palliative care services remain accessible and at no cost to our patients and their families,” said Dr Ednin.

This year, Hospis Malaysia is partnering with Malaysian fintech company Paydibs as its digital payment partner.

“We are pleased to support Hospis Malaysia in bringing greater convenience to its charity bazaar through cashless payments.

“By creating a smoother bazaar experience, it directly supports Hospis Malaysia’s fundraising efforts and its vital palliative care work for patients and their families,” said Paydibs CEO Tee Kean Kang.

Renowned DJ Jazziejay will be emceeing and spinning music throughout the event, while a sponsored lion dance troupe will perform in the morning.
