KTM Komuter passengers in the Klang Valley will enjoy a 50% discount on all ticket categories, including concession fares, on Tuesday and Wednesday (June 3 and 4) following significant delays owing to the ongoing signalling system upgrade.
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) apologised for the inconvenience in a statement on Sunday (June 1).
It noted that the disruption has affected electric train services (ETS) and Komuter services since work began on the stretch between Kepong and Salak Selatan stations two days ago.
“To alleviate the inconvenience, we are offering a 50% fare discount for all KTM Komuter Klang Valley routes on June 3 and 4,” it said.
The ongoing upgrade has caused several ETS services to be delayed by more than 120 minutes.
Among the affected routes are KL Sentral-Butterworth, KL Sentral-Padang Besar, Segamat-Padang Besar, and Segamat-Butterworth.
KTM Komuter services have also been affected, specifically on the Pulau Sebang-Batu Caves-Pulau Sebang and Tanjung Malim-KL Sentral-Tanjung Malim routes.
KTMB said affected ETS passengers, including those stranded at KL Sentral station, were provided with drinking water and light refreshments.
“Delay notifications were also sent via text message.
“Station staff were deployed at key locations to assist and manage passenger flow during the disruptions,” it added.
The signalling upgrade, expected to be completed by Monday (June 2), is part of the Klang Valley Double Track Phase 1 (KVDT1) project aimed at improving the safety, efficiency and capacity of rail operations.
Passengers are advised to plan their journeys and stay updated through the KTMB mobile app, the MyRailtime website, or KTMB’s official social media channels.
KTMB thanked passengers for their patience, adding that any queries may be directed to its customer service centre at 03-9779 1200, or approach station staff in person.
