REAPPOINTED Johor executive council members are ready to hit the ground running and continue where they left off.
Bukit Permai assemblyman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor, who retained his housing and local government portfolio, said efforts under the Johor Affordable Housing Scheme (RMMJ) would continue, with the state targeting completion of 30,000 units by the end of this year.
“Our focus will be on continuing initiatives such as Rumah Kasih Johor and Rumah Transit Bangsa Johor, as well as fulfilling the manifesto pledges made during the state election.
“To ensure the initiatives have an impact on the people, the state government leadership has set key performance indicators, with progress to be reviewed every three months to fulfil our manifesto pledges in phases,” he said.
Mohd Jafni said housing assistance under the Maju Johor 2030 plan would also be rolled out in phases, with the next phase expected to begin by mid-August.
“This includes RM5,000 for purchasing a home, RM2,000 for moving-in assistance and RM2,500 for house rental.
“This Phase Five rollout will benefit 5,000 individuals,” he said.
Larkin assemblyman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah, who was reappointed as chairman of the state youth, sports, entrepreneur development and cooperatives committee, said he would further empower youth, young entrepreneurs and existing small and medium enterprises.
“Any projects or matters that were put on hold when the state election was called will be revived and brought to fruition.”
He also said sports infrastructure would be developed and completed, in line with the vision of making Johor a sporting destination by 2030.
Paloh assemblyman Lee Ting Han, who retains his investment, trade, consumer affairs and human resources portfolio, said the next four years would be a critical phase in advancing the Maju Johor 2030 agenda.
“Based on the state’s encouraging economic growth over two consecutive years, I am optimistic that the vision, including the Johor Economic Transformation Plan, can be realised.
“We will carry on with what has already been implemented, while addressing any shortcomings or areas requiring improvements to drive the state towards greater progress,” he said.
The new Johor exco line-up, unveiled by Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, saw six assemblymen retaining their portfolios, while four new faces were appointed to the state administration.
Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid was also retained as chairman of the state Islamic religious affairs committee as were Yong Peng assemblyman Ling Tian Soon (health and environment) and Bukit Pasir assemblyman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh (works, transportation, infrastructure and communications).
The new faces in the line-up are Pulai Sebatang assemblyman Hasrunizah Hassan (women, family and community development) and Kukup assemblyman Md Israk Abdullah (agriculture, agro-based industry and rural development).
Panti assemblyman Dr Muhammad Naqib Md Ghazali (education and information) and Perling assemblyman P. Pannir Selvam (unity, heritage and culture) have also joined the state administration.
