FIVE Pakistani nationals received recognition for their bravery during the Putra Heights inferno on April 1.

The certificates were presented by Fomema deputy chief executive officer Muhammad Fawzul Yusoff in a special ceremony held during the firm’s Hari Raya celebration in Kuala Lumpur.

Fomema executive chairman Tengku Datuk Seri Abu Bakar Ahmad Tengku Abdullah and Pakistani High Commissioner to Malaysia Syed Ahsan Raza Shah were also present.

The recipients Khaista Nawab, Amir Nawab, Jaafar Ali, Bakht Munir and Rafiq Ullah risked their lives to rescue residents during the incident.

In a media statement, the firm said the men would also receive complimentary medical examinations under Fomema.

It stated that the recognition highlighted acts of heroism transcending borders and reinforced Fomema’s ongoing commitment to caring for the health and well-being of foreign workers in Malaysia.

The firm’s Hari Raya celebration brought together key stakeholders and staff for an evening of cultural workshops, vibrant performances and festive camaraderie.
