A FREE digital career exploration platform has been launched, aimed at guiding students in making career decisions.
Schola was developed over three years to ensure the best possible user experience, said Creador Foundation protector Shanti Kandiah.
“Many students have had to choose their careers without proper guidance.
“Our goal is to ensure they are ready to make informed decisions through exposure via Schola, rather than relying on the opinion of other people,” she said during the launch ceremony in Kuala Lumpur.
Creador president Maha Subramaniam said, “The Schola website has key features including early career exposure, personality quiz and salary information as well as more than 150 career guides.”
The launch drew around 700 people, including students from 10 schools located across the Klang Valley.
The Schola highlight was an ask-me-anything booth staffed by over 50 professionals from over 40 industries.
Student Nur Irdina Muhammad Faizal, 17, from Kuala Lumpur, said she had never considered her future career options.
She said this was due to a lack of exposure to the range of career paths available upon completion of the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exam.
“Now, after receiving guidance from professionals, I realise that I have many options,” Nur Irdina said.
AirAsia Captain Johan Farid Khairuddin also took part in a panel session on career planning.
Alongside him were other industry leaders such as In Haus Design founder Ramlee Ahmat and Cleve.ai chief executive officer Ashvin Pravin.
Architect Huda Mahmud, 46, said she joined the programme because she noticed that many people, especially students, had little knowledge about the field of architecture.
“By sharing my experience, I can help set realistic expectations about studying architecture and its career prospects.
“I also highlighted to students what they can achieve with a qualification in architecture, so they are aware of the career options,” she said.
