Eco World Foundation has donated 20 sets of stainless steel canteen tables and benches to SJK(C) Ton Fah in Beranang, Selangor.
The donation was made in response to the school headmaster’s request last December for additional canteen furniture to accommodate the increasing pupil population.
Since its establishment, SJK(C) Ton Fah has seen a steady rise in enrolment – from 200 in 2023 to nearly 500.
However, its canteen facilities can only accommodate 300, making additional furniture a necessity.
The handover ceremony was attended by Eco World Foundation chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye and SJK(C) Ton Fah headmaster Chai Wai Hong.
The donated furniture, valued at RM36,000, was delivered to the school in February, ensuring students could use them from the start of the new term.
“Eco World Foundation places great emphasis on education assistance because we believe that education has the power to change lives and uplift entire families,” said Lee.
“Schools must not lack fundamental facilities, as a conducive learning environment is essential for students to thrive.”
The foundation’s broader efforts to support education for the needy include the Students Aid Programme, which sponsors 1,800 primary school pupils from different ethnic backgrounds across four states.
This programme alone receives over RM3mil annually from the foundation.
“We are delighted to contribute these high-quality, durable and aesthetically pleasing canteen tables and benches to SJK(C) Ton Fah,” said Lee.
“I hope the pupils will appreciate these facilities and take good care of them.”
He also urged individuals and organisations to contribute to the development of schools, helping to improve both their resources.
In his remarks at the event, Lee encouraged pupils to study diligently and strive for excellence.
He said: “One day, I hope you will grow into individuals who contribute to the nation and society, living up to the expectations placed upon you.”
