Held at KLAS Gallery in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, the event showcases a curated selection of contemporary and modern art from renowned Malaysian and South-East Asian artists.

Among featured artists is the late Datuk Syed Ahmad Jamal, part of a generation of artists who introduced modernism to Malaysia.

He helped define a new era for Malaysian art, one that integrated both local and international influences.

His works are housed in major institutions such as the National Art Gallery.

There is also prominent artist Yusof Ghani known for his abstract and expressionist works that reflect his personal experiences, emotional depth and socio-political themes.

His works are celebrated for their dynamic composition, powerful brushwork and emotive use of colour.

One of his most well-known series is Tari, which explores the fluid movements and rhythmic patterns of traditional Malay dance.

The works in this series are inspired by the graceful yet powerful motions of dancers, and characterised by energetic, swirling brushstrokes and abstract forms that convey the movement and emotion of the performance art.

Negri Sembilan-born Datuk Tajuddin Ismail, known for his symbolic and metaphoric interpretations of nature, is also highlighted.

His notable exhibitions include “Seni Lukis, Malaysian Art in Germany” in cities such as Munich, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt in 1990.

Exhibitions have featured his works such as Balinese Garden and Seaforms, which have attracted significant attention from art enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Malaysian-born Khoo Sui Hoe, meanwhile, is considered one of the pioneers of modern art in Singapore.

His artistic practice spans various media, including oil painting, drawing and printmaking, often exploring themes of nature, urban landscapes and the human condition.

Khoo’s works have been featured in numerous exhibitions, both locally and internationally.

Some of his notable works are displayed at the National Gallery Singapore, showcasing his contributions to the island republic’s visual arts heritage.

Pago-Pago is a notable series of artworks created by Latiff Mohidin, which he began in the 1960s.

It is inspired by the artist’s travels and experiences in the South Pacific, particularly the Samoan capital Pago Pago.

Latiff, known for his distinctive exploration of modernism and abstraction, utilised the series as a way to express both personal and cultural reflections.

Another big name on the list is Datuk Sharifah Fatimah Syed Zubir, renowned for her vibrant and nature-inspired abstracts.

The Kedahan was trained in London and is the most celebrated living female artist in Malaysia.

Other featured artists include Datuk Chuah Thean Teng and Rafiee Ghani, while the gallery website lists 84 lots of artwork in various media, from watercolour on paper to oil on jute.
