LOCATED along the Klang coastline in Selangor, Kampung Bagan Hailam is a Chinese fishing village that is over a century old.
Unlike modern developments around it in Port Klang, one of the busiest ports in the world, this village has retained traditional structures such as wooden houses built on stilts over mudflats.
While Kampung Bagan Hailam is no longer a thriving fishing hub, it remains home to local fishermen who still head out daily.
The village is renowned for its seafood, especially Hainanese-style grilled crabs.
Fishing enthusiasts, meanwhile, can cast away at their leisure at commercial ponds.
Just a short drive away, Tanjung Harapan offers breathtaking sunset views and a family-friendly recreational spot.
A replica Bugis schooner anchored at the shore is a popular backdrop for wedding photographs and Instagram shots.
Both areas are known for their picturesque settings and restaurants offering fresh seafood.
