KULAI Municipal Council (MPKu) collected over RM191.7mil in 2024, the highest it has recorded so far.

Council president Mohd Fahmi Salam (pic) said the amount also exceeded last year’s projected revenue of RM141.3mil.

“All credit goes to the council staff’s hard work,” he said in reference to revenue collection, including assessment tax.

“I hope the amount will continue to increase this year in line with new developments in Johor.”

Mohd Fahmi noted that Kulai was one of the six local councils involved in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) initiative.

“We can expect to see significant benefits for the district in terms of economic and infrastructure development,” he said when chairing the council’s full board meeting.

He added that this year, MPKu would continue focusing on improving its services to ratepayers, maintaining public amenities as well as prioritising people’s well-being.

He called on MPKu staff to constantly improve processes and stay updated.

“I was impressed by how artificial intelligence (AI) can help government departments in managing work flow,” he said.

“I fully support MPKu’s vision to use such technologies to improve our services.

“We will also strengthen our tourism efforts in line with the Visit Johor 2026 campaign.

“I hope that tourism infrastructure and facilities are in good shape to attract more tourists to Kulai.”
