AN ACCOUNTANT decided to cancel a skin treatment package she had signed up for after a payment dispute with a beauty centre.
Hairatul Anisa Halim (pic) had been attracted to the affordable treatment advertised on social media.
After contacting the centre in Johor Baru, she was given an appointment on July 27, 2024.
“When I arrived at the centre, I chose the RM55 skin treatment,’’ she said when met outside the Johor Consumer Claims Tribunal in Menara Ansar, Johor Baru.
Hairatul said before the treatment started, a beauty consultant conducted a skin analysis.
“She claimed my skin was not suitable for the RM55 treatment and suggested that I choose a different treatment type that was offered as part of a package,’’ said Hairatul.
The suggested package had been priced at RM4,000 for 12 sessions plus three free sessions.
However, the package price was later reduced to RM3,500.
Hairatul agreed and paid RM2,000 via an online bank transfer of RM500 on her first appointment.
She later made payments of RM500 each in August, September and October.
On July 27, she went for a skin detoxification and nano treatment and was given an invoice of RM650.
She had thought that this amount would go towards payment for the RM3,500 package.
Hairatul only found out that the RM650 invoice amount was not part of the package after she paid the RM2,000.
Hence, she decided to cancel the package.
“The centre’s staff should have informed me that the RM650 would not be included in the RM3,500 package,’’ she added.
Furthermore, Hairatul said the first treatment session did not reduce spots on her forehead.
After deducting administrative fees from the RM2,000 paid by Hairatul, president Lee Chee Thim ordered the respondent to refund RM1,533.33 to the claimant within two weeks.
