TERESA Teng’s iconic velvety voice filled the atmosphere at McDonald’s Kota Damansara Drive-through outlet as elders from Bodhi Homecare and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Lao Yin Kah Kepong sang along to her classic hit, Tian Mi Mi.

Hands clapped along to the beat, smiles spread across their faces, and for a moment, age felt irrelevant.

The Lunar New Year celebration, part of McDonald’s Malaysia’s decade-long Program Komuniti @ McD, was filled with music, laughter and festivity.

Residents enjoyed a lion dance, cultural performances, a communal yee sang toss and a hearty spread of McDonald’s Prosperity meals.

Even McDonald’s crew joined in the celebration, bridging generations with shared memories.

Since 2017, Program Komuniti @ McD has reached more than 120 old folks’ homes nationwide, carrying out over 10,000 initiatives annually.

The focus goes beyond food and entertainment. McDonald’s Malaysia has been dedicated to serving and giving back to the community, as well as bringing joy and warmth to elders during the festive season.

During the event, McDonald’s Malaysia reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to supporting the two selected old folks’ homes by contributing towards improvements to their living facilities and household supplies.

McDonald’s Malaysia managing director and local operating partner Datuk Azmir Jaafar expressed his enthusiasm about the initiative.

“Chinese New Year is a time to celebrate joy, connection and care. For the past ten years, McDonald’s has been proud to extend this spirit to our elders across the country.

“Welcoming them, sharing meals, and seeing their smiles reminds us that true prosperity is not what we have, but the love and companionship we share.

“Continuing this initiative allows us to give back in a meaningful way and celebrate the Lunar New Year with purpose and heart,” he said.
