Over RM10mil in smuggled frozen goods seized in Sabah


PETALING JAYA: Over RM10mil in smuggled frozen goods have been seized by the police after raids across Sabah.

Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said that 14 raids in 11 locations were conducted on July 8.

“Op Chiller Sabah Brigade was aimed at detecting and combating the illegal smuggling, storage and processing of frozen food products, as well as other related offences,” he said in a statement on Thursday (July 9).

A total of 21 suspects aged between 20 and 66 years old were arrested, including two foreigners.

The raids resulted in the seizure of RM10,348,152.25 in frozen goods and meats. Authorities also confiscated an additional RM13,804,500 in other assets.

“All those arrested, together with the seized goods and assets, have been handed over to the relevant enforcement agencies for further investigation and action,” he added.
