THE newly rebuilt Klinik Desa Slim Village in Slim River, Perak, will be operational tomorrow.
Muallim health officer Dr Raja Mohd Azim Raja Haron hopes the local community and those in the surrounding areas will fully utilise its services.
The rural clinic offered healthcare services for expectant and new mothers, babies, children and also senior citizens, he said during a recent site visit.
“There is also a family planning adviser there.
“We understand that there are many senior folk in the village. Some don’t have cars or motorcycles and only have bicycles.
“We offer tests or check-ups for all senior folk,” he added.
Rural clinics are localised healthcare service providers normally meant for mothers and children.
These clinics are manned by trained nurses with outpatient services rendered based on the types of facilities available.
Dr Raja Mohd Azim said before the old clinic was demolished in April, services were temporarily relocated to the Kampung Pasir Slim Village rural clinic.
“A tender process for the project was held in May before a contractor was appointed to begin work in July,” he said.
Sundry shop operator KP Tanggamah said she was happy that the clinic was rebuilt in a short time.
She hopes medical officers or assistants could be stationed there, at least once a week, to provide healthcare services to senior folk.
“This can enable seniors with chronic illnesses to get referral letters to specialist hospitals for further treatment,” she said.
Kampung Sungai Kurong development and security committee chairman Ahmad Nazim Ramli also thanked the government for upgrading the clinic for the welfare of locals.
