Public help needed to stem illegal dumping

THE constituents of Kota Kemuning have been urged to alert the authorities if they spot illegal dumping activities.

In a media statement, Kota Kemuning assemblyman Preakas Sampunathan said the public should be the eyes and ears of the authorities and inform them of any suspicious activity.

“If you notice any suspicious activity or individuals dumping waste illegally, please report it to us immediately.

“Your information will be kept confidential, and prompt action will be taken,” he said.

Preakas said illegal waste dumping was increasingly rampant in the constituency, especially in Bukit Kemuning.

“As a place we live in and love, it is our collective responsibility to maintain its cleanliness and beauty.

“Unfortunately, the actions of a few irresponsible individuals have tarnished the image of this area and have had a negative impact on the daily lives of the residents,” he said.

Preakas said he had also requested Shah Alam City Council and Subang Jaya City Council, which oversee areas in the Kota Kemuning constituency, to take legal action against the irresponsible individuals.

The Residents Representative Council has also been tasked to monitor areas identified as "hotspots" for illegal waste dumping, he said.

“In addition, we have appointed a party to catch those who commit these offences."

He said legal action would be taken against the offenders.

“Maximum fines will be imposed to ensure they do not repeat this behaviour.

“Let us work together to maintain the cleanliness and harmony of our area.

"With collective effort, we can ensure that Kota Kemuning remains a clean, beautiful and comfortable place to live,” he added.
