A TOTAL of 24 business premises in Kuala Lumpur were slapped with closure notices during an operation by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

They were ordered to close for various violations, including operating without valid licences, employing foreign workers and causing obstruction at public spaces.

DBKL in a statement said 70 premises were inspected during the operation on Dec 27.

“Of the 70, 24 were served immediate closure notices for violations under the Local Government Act 1976.

“Twenty-five compound notices were also issued to operators for various infringements,” it said.

DBKL carried out enforcement under the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 as well as Trades, Businesses and Industries Licensing (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) 2016 and Licensing of Hawkers and Food Placement by-laws.

Meanwhile, a separate operation was carried out around Pasar Borong Kuala Lumpur and Pusat Bandar Utara Kuala Lumpur targeting foreign-operated businesses and those without valid licences.

Five businesses causing obstruction were instructed to remove the items.

Enforcement officers also issued four compound notices under the Trades, Businesses and Industries Licensing by-law.

The items were sent to DBKL’s storage facility in Taman Miharja for processing and documentation.

“Continuous enforcement will be carried out through periodic operations,” DBKL said.
