Kepong road, drain, park repairs to start next month

StarMetro report on Dec 9.

REPAIRS and upgrades of various public facilities in Jalan Lang Kelabu, Kepong, are expected to start next year.

Road resurfacing, repairs and clean-up of drains as well as upgrades of the playground are among the works to be carried out.

These projects are being undertaken by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in response to a StarMetro report on Dec 9.

The report highlighted residents’ complaints about potholes, damaged drains and a poorly maintained playground, among others.

Concerns were also raised about a strong presence of mosquitoes due to stagnant water, with residents calling for immediate action from local authorities.

DBKL said the road resurfacing work was expected to take place from Jan 6 to Feb 2.

“This area is among locations identified as part of our citywide road-resurfacing programme in 2025,” it said in a statement to StarMetro.

As for damaged drains in the area, DBKL said inspections found that restricted water flow contributed to the issue.

“Clean-up works will be initiated and a contractor will upgrade the facility between Jan 20 and March 16,” it said.

DBKL also responded to residents’ complaints about water ponding and facilities at the playground.

It said that although the play equipment was in good condition, the grass needed trimming.

“Works to upgrade the playground area are expected to begin in early 2025,” said DBKL.

It also acknowledged the need for a pedestrian walkway in the area and said it would prepare a plan to construct one.

Earlier this year, DBKL had said it would undertake maintenance and upgrading works in nearby areas, following a StarMetro report on July 9.

These included building a drain in Suria Homes to solve water-ponding issues, and repairing playground equipment in Taman Sri Segambut.

The work was completed in August.
