Puchong folk upset over lorries damaging residential roads

Lorries using residential roads have caused visible damage, with potholes becoming more apparent during the rainy season.

THOSE living along Jalan Prima 7/7 in Taman Puchong Prima, Selangor, are outraged by the damaged caused by big lorries using the road.

This is despite repeated calls by residents to Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) to prevent lorries from using residential roads.

Resident Norazian Mohamad said these lorries were transporting earth and sand to a development site.

She said the heavy vehicles were taking a toll on the roads as the lorries made more than 20 trips a day.

According to her, MBSJ had previously identified a road in Kampung Sri Aman, Puchong, for the lorries to use, but it was later decided that the road could not handle the load.

Norazian said residents had in 2013 protested the city council’s decision to allow these lorries to use their neighbourhood road.

It is particularly worrying as there are five kindergartens between the entrance of Taman Puchong Prima and the residential road.

Another resident, Khairul Azman, said he was upset that the city council had approved the use of the road.

In their community’s WhatsApp chat group, several residents alerted those using Jalan Prima 7/6 heading towards Jalan Prima 7/4 and Jalan Prima 7/12, to a large pothole there.

A resident, who only wished to be known as Lai, said, “Every day, the contractors sweep away stagnant water near the potholes to make the road look less damaged.

“How long will this go on?”

Several roads within Taman Puchong Prima were repaired but residents complained that the work was poorly executed.

MBSJ has not responded at press time to StarMetro’s request for comments.
