CONTINUED green initiatives by Magnum Group saw 65 of its employees planting trees in Kuala Selangor Nature Park, Selangor.

The campaign was part of Magnum’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, to protect Malaysia’s flora and fauna.

The tree planting was attended by Magnum 4D Bhd executive director Krian Upatkoon and Magnum Group chief commercial officer Datuk Chan Chee Fai.

With support from the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), Magnum staff were able to plant over 500 tree saplings sourced from the Orang Asli community of RPS Banun, Gerik, Perak.

Through this partnership, Magnum was also able to help restore and protect natural habitats of local indigenous people.

Upatkoon said, “At Magnum, we are passionate about empowering our employees to create lasting positive change in society.

“This CSR initiative by MagnumCares reflects our commitment to environmental sustainability.

“We take pride in actively involving our team in preserving our planet and driving the fight against climate change.”

Chan said, “Since 2022, Magnum has been steadfast in protecting the environment through meaningful CSR initiatives.

“Together with MNS, we have gradually expanded our tree-planting efforts.

“Each tree symbolises our growing commitment to conserving habitats and protecting our planet for future generations.”

Over the past three years, the company’s staff have, through its CSR arm MagnumCares, volunteered their time to plant 1,700 trees.

This is in line with Magnum’s commitment to the United Nation Sustainability Goals (UN SDGs) and environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.

The nature park is home to diverse wildlife and habitats.

It has attracted over 150 species of birds while an estimated 100,000 wading birds pass through the park during their annual migration.

Magnum’s planting of various types of tree saplings has helped to revitalise the nature park.

The company’s commitment to giving back extends beyond tree planting.

In 2023, Magnum launched Project Magnum Hearts, an innovative digital CSR initiative within the MyMagnum 4D app.

This platform allowed customers to earn rewards of “Hearts” which they could then donate to charitable projects across Malaysia.

Through this initiative, Magnum has partnered with non-profit organisations championing vital causes such as food security, education, healthcare, support for persons with disabilities as well as the empowerment of women and children.
