Parts of Jalan Masjid India affected by sinkhole reopened

KUALA LUMPUR: Part of Jalan Masjid India where a sinkhole appeared recently has been reopened to the public.

The reopened area stretches from the police beat station to a small lane between business premises.

However, the area around the Wisma Melayu complex, where the sinkhole appeared, is still closed off.

In a statement on Wednesday (Nov 20), Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) said the reopened area had been repaired and soil investigations carried out.

DBKL said the area that remains closed is expected to be reopened by the end of 2024, earlier than the initial target of February 2025.

"DBKL is committed to ensuring these works are completed safely and comprehensively.

"DBKL appreciates the patience and cooperation shown by the public and stakeholders while work was carried out," it added.
