Kopitiam chain serving local fare gets halal certification

The team at Hock Kee Kopitiam is all smiles after the brand received its halal certification.

HOCK KEE Kopitiam has attained halal certification from the Islamic Development Department (Jakim).

The brand has always upheld a strict no pork, no lard policy, ensuring inclusivity for all.

The chain’s menu highlights the rich, nostalgic flavours of popular favourites from kopitiams of yore.

The interior of its restaurants are also designed to replicate coffeeshops that served as a meeting place in the olden days.

It has six restaurants across the country, including its latest addition in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

It will soon be opening its second Kuala Lumpur eatery.

Hock Kee Kopitiam boasts a full menu catering breakfast through supper, and a beverage line-up that ranges from traditional kopi peng to gourmet-style latte.

“We are immensely proud to be a brand cherished by Malaysians of all races,” said Hock Kee Kopitiam founder and chief executive officer Nick Ng.

“This milestone allows us to share our beloved Malaysian cuisine with an even broader audience, including our Muslim friends and international visitors.

“The halal certification is a testament to our unwavering commitment to the highest standards of quality and hygiene.”

The halal certification not only reinforces the brand’s commitment to quality and inclusivity, but also sets the stage for continued growth and success, he said.
