Project set to nurture STEM studies at primary school level

Over 300 participants, including parents, teachers, schoolchildren and stakeholders convened at Universiti Teknikal Melaka (UTeM) for the first briefing on the Transforming STEM Education project.

In a team effort between ISpace Digital Academy Malaysia, UTeM, Melaka Education Department and selected corporations, the participants began steps to improve STEM education in primary schools.

Fuelled by Skool21 books and kits, the programme aims to nurture the next generation of STEM innovators, problem-solvers and leaders.

Children between the ages of eight and 11 cultivated vital skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity and problem-solving.

The engaging curriculum, exciting lessons and cutting-edge technology will benefit SK Tun Syed Ahmad Shahabuddin, SK Taman Merdeka, SK Jalan Datuk Palembang, SK Batu Berendam, SK Batu Berendam 2, SK Bukit Beruang, SK Dato Demang Hussin, SK Merlimau 2, SK Rumbia and SK Parit Melana.

The first cohort of 200 pupils began the three-and-a half month programme this month.

An assessment by an international STEM certification body, followed by a boot camp in UTeM, will be organised upon the completion of each module.
