WORKS are in the pipeline to improve safety features along Jalan Sungai Pari, near SJK (T) Kerajaan in Buntong, a suburb of Ipoh, Perak.

A spokesperson from Ipoh City Council (MBI) said the local authority was in the process of appointing a contractor for the project.

“Works will include raising the existing speed bumps and putting in transverse bars (rumble strips) to slow down vehicles.

“The height of the speed bumps has decreased over time, so we will raise it again,” the spokesperson said in a media statement.

“We installed solar-powered flashing lights near the school last year.”

The spokesperson said the measures were to alert motorists about the need to drive slow in a school zone.

“This is for the safety of the students and the public.

“We will also try to expedite the work once a contractor has been appointed,” the spokesperson added.
