THE Taiping Zoo and Night Safari (TZNS) will implement new entry fees from Sunday.
The new zoo entry fee for Malaysians will be RM25 for adult (currently RM16), RM12 for child aged 3 to 12 (currently RM8) and RM10 for senior citizen aged 60 and above (currently RM8).
As for the Night Safari, the ticket prices will be RM30 for adult (currently RM20) and RM15 for child (currently RM10). The senior citizen’s ticket is unchanged at RM10.
The Taiping Zoo’s new entry ticket prices for non-Malaysians are RM40 for adult and RM20 for child or senior citizen, while the Night Safari rates will be RM50 for adult, RM25 for child and RM20 for senior citizen.
Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) president Mohamed Akmal Dahalan said the new fees, the first review since 2013, took into account increases in current operating costs, including animal habitat maintenance, veterinary welfare and care, maintenance of public facilities, safety and continuous improvements to infrastructure.
“In addition, it (the adjustments) also takes into consideration the rising cost of animal food, in line with the increase in current market prices,” he said in a media statement.
All ticket prices include the tram service.
“As part of our social commitment, free entrance will continue to be extended to persons with disabilities and children aged below three for both Malaysians and foreigners,” said Mohamed Akmal.
“With an annual average of 600,000 visitors, TZNS houses over 1,300 animals from 120 species in a 36ha area, with a walkway spanning 2.5km,” he said, reported Bernama.
Mohamed Akmal said TZNS remained one of the largest zoos in Malaysia offering the lowest and most affordable ticket prices to everyone.
“TZNS also remains committed to strengthening conservation, education and wildlife care efforts, as well as preserving its historical value for the benefit of current and future generations,” he added.
