WORK to repair the damaged portion of Sri Desa Entrepreneurs Park’s Block A building in Kuchai Lama, Kuala Lumpur, is set to start soon as the contract has been awarded.

Block A’s building manager Emily Sim said the management corporation anticipated repairs on the five-storey commercial building to be completed within two months.

“We have already started hacking.

“There was a delay earlier as Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) required a forensics report on the collapse, which took some time to obtain,” Sim explained.

No injuries were reported.

In early September, owners and tenants on the ground floor and levels 1 and 2 of the block were allowed to return to work.

In December, DBKL’s building management department approved the use of offices on level 3, with strict safety protocols in place.

However, units on the 4th and 5th floors remain inaccessible.

Sim said DBKL had issued standard operating procedures for the building’s tenants and owners that must be followed at all times.

Among the requirements is that access and egress to and from the first and second floors are only allowed via the emergency staircase.

The entire area is cordoned off with banners and signage warning people not to trespass.

During StarMetro’s visit, most of the ground-floor restaurants in the building had resumed operations.
