Two new Tabika Kemas to be built in Taman Kota Masai

TWO new Community Development Department nurseries (Tabika Kemas) will be built in Taman Kota Masai, Pasir Gudang next year as part of the state government’s initiative to provide early education to children from B40 families.

Johor agriculture, agro-based industry, and rural committee chairman Datuk Zahari Sarip (pic) said the two projects were expected to be completed in 2025 and could cater to 150 children.

“The first Tabika Kemas is at Jalan Nenas 12, which will have four classrooms that can cater to 100 students for one learning session.

“The second is at Jalan Ciku 18, with two classrooms and can cater to 50 children at one time.

“Both centres have been approved by the government and will commence next year,” he said during the state assembly sitting at Bangunan Sultan Ismail in Kota Iskandar.

The two centres will have WiFi connection to ensure that the learning and teaching process uses the latest digital tools.

“As part of the early education digital transformation initiative, Tabika Kemas Sinar Berlian in Johor Baru and Tabika Kemas Permata Hati in Pasir Gudang will be provided with WiFi connection.

“The government will also be setting up a Tabika Kemas in Taman Scientex, Pasir Gudang next year that will cater to 25 children,” he added.

Zahari also said that this year, Kemas Johor had arranged to build seven new Tabika Kemas worth RM14.9mil and allocated RM888,850 to repair the premises of 42 Kemas centres.

“We have also allocated RM1.3mil to upgrade 15 Kemas premises this year.

“For next year, a total of RM800,000 has been allocated to upgrade old Kemas buildings, including multipurpose halls,” he said, adding that the premises requiring urgent repair would be identified by year-end.

Zahari also said the allocation was given to ensure that children were able to learn in a safe and conducive environment.

As of this year, there are a total of 848 Tabika Kemas centres in Johor with 1,155 classrooms, 24,900 children and 1,075 teachers.
