A charity golf tournament has raised RM25,000 for five charitable organisations, making a meaningful impact on those in need.
The amount was raised through Malaysian Retail Chain Association’s (MRCA) MRCA Charity Golf 2023 at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club in Bukit Kiara which saw 104 golfers taking part.
The five recipients are Rumah Bakti Al-Kausar, Kiwanis Club Kluang - Persatuan Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Kluang Johor, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Yesuvin Mahligai (YM) Selangor, Persatuan Rumah Kebajikan Rita and Persatuan Insan Istimewa Cheras Selangor.
Present at the event were Sunsuria Bhd executive chairman and guest of honour Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap, MRCA Foundation chairman Datuk Seri Nelson Kwok, MRCA president Datuk Sharan Valiram, MRCA Foundation trustees, organising chairman Ben Lee, MRCA council members, event sponsors, representatives from the organisations as well as distinguished guests.
Sponsors of the event included Sime Darby Auto Bavaria Sdn Bhd, Poh Kong Jewellers, Tropicana Corporation Bhd and Sri Ternak Group of Companies.
Under the initiatives and leadership of its 2008-2010 president Datuk Tay Sim Kim, the association raised RM1mil to set up MRCA Foundation for medical, educational and charitable purposes.
With this foundation, MRCA started giving back to society through visits and donations to charitable organisations during Malaysia’s main festive seasons.
Some of the foundation’s objectives include organising, implementing and supporting schemes for relief efforts and treatment of sickness and disease, providing medical and surgical facilities and services and providing relief to the needy.
MRCA Foundation is also a strong proponent of education as they provide assistance to needy and deserving students and recognise the academic excellence of their members’ children.
