Brilliant show of patriotism

JOY and harmony reigned as thousands of people thronged the Batu Kawan Stadium in Penang to witness a vibrant National Day celebration.

In a show of love for the country, they enthusiastically waved mini Jalur Gemilang during the contingents’ march-past.

A total of 8,977 people took part in the parade themed “Malaysia Madani: Tekad, Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan”.

Among the participants were 92 contingents on foot and 25 contingents driving past in 720 vehicles.

The Santun Semilang Performing Arts Group choir from SMK Seberang Jaya performed patriotic songs that combined traditional musical elements of the various races in Malaysia.

Among the notable performances were a Boria Jalur Gemilang dance, showcase from Third Regiment of the Royal Armoured Corps’ Guards of Honour and Gempita 8x8 armoured vehicle display.
