Taman Sri Segambut folk, shopowners fuming over lack of parking

Jalan Udang Siar in Taman Sri Segambut is congested with cars parked on both sides of the road.

BUSINESS owners and residents along Jalan Udang Siar in Taman Sri Segambut are at their wits’ end dealing with indiscriminate parking.

Most are forced to park on both sides of the road ever since a condominium was built there about four years ago.

Ee Kok Teck, one of the residents of the condominium, said he received four compounds in a month for parking illegally.

“We have two parking spaces but it’s not enough, so my family members are forced to park outside.

“I hope more parking spaces can be built here,” he said.

Shopowner Lin Chin Keong, 45, said he was also fined for parking his car in front of his shop although he did not block the road.

Lin added that there were no parking issues before the condominium was built.

“I have customers who said they prefer to park at the side of the road.

“I hope the authorities can find a solution to resolve this issue,” he said.

Community activist Yee Poh Ping urged Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to designate parking spaces along Jalan Udang Siar.

“This is a commercial area and residents also live here,” he said.

“There has to be sufficient parking spaces for the shopowners and residents,” he added.
