State polls: PKR to defend Batu Tiga, Kota Anggerik seats in S'gor, says Ampang MP

SHAH ALAM: PKR will defend the Batu Tiga and Kota Anggerik seats, both in Shah Alam, in the coming Selangor state election, says Rodziah Ismail.

The Batu Tiga assemblyman, who is also Ampang MP, when asked if she would defend her seat or contest in either Bukit Antarabangsa or Lembah Jaya, said she would leave the decision to the party leadership.

"If I am asked to defend my seat, I will be inclined to do so.

"However, being the current Ampang MP comes with its own responsibilities, so I am leaving the decision to party leaders," she said.

She added that there was an understanding in Selangor that parties within the government would defend their seats based on the current incumbents.

"From what we understand after party meetings is that PKR will contest in Kota Anggerik and Batu Tiga," she said.

Mohd Najwan Halimi is the current Kota Anggerik assemblyman.

Rodziah, who is also Shah Alam PKR chief, added that contesting one seat was not just about winning the seat, but to ensure the state government can retain the administration, as well as give new candidates a chance to serve.

When asked if she would step aside for younger candidates to contest, she said that she had also prepared new names to be proposed as candidates in Kota Anggerik and Batu Tiga.

"If we have the opportunity, we should give new candidates the chance to serve the state," she said.
