Tonight get set for some alternative rock at Merdekarya, which recently celebrated its 10th year, as Skies Are Red get into the thick of the action. Tomorrow, pop rock is in focus with The Propositions! taking over the mic. Indie legend Azmyl Yunor will be in the house next Wednesday. Folk continues to dominate the vibe at Merdekarya next Thursday with the Sounds of Kites. Next Friday, progressive rock is the order of the day with Dewataraya. On Saturday, there’s a grungier focus thanks to Silvergun Superman. No cover charge but a minimum tip of RM10 for the musicians is expected.

Jao Tim drips with Old World charm but now, it’s also stepping up as an events space. Next Wednesday, jazz fans are in for a treat as vocal virtuoso Dasha Logan teams up with legendary jazz pianist Michael Veerapen for a night of Lady Sings the Standards. On Thursday night, Coldplay is in focus, or rather the band’s songbook, as Jayvine Ramma, Puteh Piaf, Pete Kallang and Sharon Chong perform a night of covers. Next Friday, vocal powerhouse Rozz joins Dennis Law and Stephen Tseu to pay tribute to Elton John, unplugged. Cover charges apply.
