RESIDENTS of Indahria Apartment at Batu Tiga, in Shah Alam, Selangor are relieved that their parking complex will finally be repaired after structural failures were detected last December.

Its joint management body (JMB) chairman Khaaliq Khairuddin said they had sought help from Batu Tiga assemblyman Rodziah Ismail and she had stepped in to assist.

“This is good news for the Indahria residents,” said Khaaliq.

He said that of the total 240 apartment units, only 180 were occupied. The two blocks of 15 storeys were completed in 2007.

On Dec 21 last year, StarMetro reported that apartment residents were evacuated to temporary relief centres during a flood.

There were fears over the stability of the building after structural failures, confirmed by building experts, were found in the nearby carpark complex located near Sungai Damansara.

Rodziah, who is state housing, urban well-being and entrepreneur development committee chairman, said Institute of Public Works (Ikram) had been appointed as contractor and the repairs were expected to be completed within a year.

“Although the apartments are on privately-owned land, the state government through Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) decided to take action as the residents are living in fear,” she said during a site visit.

“Repair works will include fixing the sewerage system and adding micropile walls along the river to prevent water from seeping into the parking complex.

“We will hold a discussion with the developer,” she added.

Ikram representative Abd Razif Abd Malek said the repair project costing RM24.4mil would commence on Jan 12, 2023.

Also present during the visit was Shah Alam mayor Dr Nor Fuad Abdul Hamid.
