AN industrial park offering flexible options and a green ecosystem is coming up in Kota Seri Langat, making it the first of its kind in Selangor.
The Compass@Kota Seri Langat project sits on a 89ha site and features two concepts.
The first concept is the green- certified Compass Industrial and Logistics Park on 48.5ha, where the warehouses are customised and built based on the needs of the clients.
The second concept is Compass SME Precinct on 23.8ha with ready-built factories and warehouses.
Selangor industry and trade committee chairman Datuk Teng Chang Khim said the park was a joint venture started in 2021 between MIDF Property Bhd, which is a Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) subsidiary, KWEST Sdn Bhd and AREA Development Holdings Sdn Bhd.
He added that the project had progressed at an impressive pace and was attracting interest in the market.
“This project is compliant with ESG (Environmental, Societal and Governance) criteria and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
“Compass SME Precinct will cater to small medium enterprises that will focus on export markets.
“I am glad the park offers a variety of products to cater to SMEs in the manufacturing and logistics sectors that have outgrown their current facilities and are looking for expansion.
“Meanwhile, Compass Industrial and Logistics Park has attracted interest among multinationals seeking larger plots.
“This will help attract foreign direct investment,” he said at the launch of the park.
He added that Compass@Kota Seri Langat was an embodiment of the future of industrial parks.
“We have to discard the old ways of designing industrial parks with outdated manufacturing and logistics technologies and embrace ESG, which is the requirement for any new industry in the future,” he said.
Teng said in the past two years, the Selangor government had engaged with industrial developers and Malaysian Investment Development Authority on what was required to improve the administrative process.
The state has also launched the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) 2021-2025 to strengthen social and economic progression.
Meanwhile, Compass IP Sdn Bhd director Datuk Stewart LaBrooy said the project brought together the best practices of sustainable design and would transform the industrial landscape.
“We were awarded the SDG Icon by the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific and the Economic Club of Kuala Kumpur,” he said.
