Big plans for Chap Goh Meh tossed out or toned down due to Covid-19 surge

AFTER not being able to carry out its annual Chap Goh Mei procession for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the State Chinese Penang Association has decided to host a low-key dinner to preserve its culture and heritage.

Association vice-president Lillian Tong said in the previous years, the Babas, Nyonyas and a Dondang Sayang troupe would be ferried on a bus around town before a performance and the traditional tossing of oranges into the sea at the Esplanade.
