TROPICANA Golf and Country Resort (TGCR), a subsidiary of Tropicana Corporation Bhd, cooked up over 7,500 nutritious and delicious meals for the needy during Ramadan.
The charity food drive was organised by Tropicana Foundation before MCO 3.0 began.
The hot meals were prepared, packed and delivered by TGCR to 15 underprivileged homes and non-governmental organisations (NGO) in the Klang Valley.
Tropicana also mobilised and donated dry goods, sanitary and cleaning products, and other daily necessities in aid of these charities during the fasting month.
Tropicana Corporation Bhd group managing director Dion Tan thanked Tropicana’s subsidiaries for the support given to the projects.
“Since March 18 and throughout Ramadan, our chefs at TGCR and Tropicana Foundation committee members have prepared and delivered 7,500 hot meals to 15 orphanages, old folks homes, refugees, the homeless and those with special needs around the Klang Valley.
“It was an arduous task to prepare nutritious lunches and dinners every day, but we did it!” he said.
“This combined effort allowed us to lend a helping hand during these challenging times, ” he added.
Ensuring strict compliance with the Covid-19 standard operating procedure, TGCR chefs treated the beneficiaries to a varied menu that comprised dishes made from fresh ingredients.
The menu included ayam masak merah, patin masak lemak, dalca sayur with nasi minyak kacang gajus, fried patin sambal and sayur goreng jawa with steamed white rice.
The beneficiaries also received daily necessities such as canned food, rice and Milo.
Supplies of washing detergents and other cleaning products were distributed to these shelters as well, to help them maintain their facilities.
School bags, stationery, books, tracksuits, T-shirts, toiletries, and care packs were also given.
Tropicana Foundation is the charity arm of Tropicana Corporation that has led the group’s corporate social responsibility projects since 2011, with the goal of improving the lives of underprivileged communities.
