'Goyang Raya': A manifestation of colour imagery and the symbol of national unity of Malaysia

The year 2026 opens with great fanfare. The first quarter of this year saw Malaysia's unique cultural tapestry as Chinese New Year coincided with the blessed month of Ramadan, followed by Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Embracing the spirit of this convergence of two major festivals, the group 1119 (TRIPLE1NINE) presents their latest work titled "GOYANG RAYA". This strong collaboration among 1119, Meer Nash, Aniez, and Zac Zac has captured attention, garnering nearly 100,000 views on YouTube in just two days since its launch.

What's particularly interesting is that the production process of this song involved singers, producers, and creative talents from diverse ethnic backgrounds. "Goyang Raya" is more than just a seasonal song; it boldly showcases a fluent command of the Malay language and a unique assimilation of traditional musical resonance with modern elements.

Overall, this work breathes new life into the local arts industry. It proves that music can be a powerful agent of unity, translating the harmony of Malaysia's diverse communities into a relaxed yet meaningful form that transcends tradition.

The “Goyang Raya” song and lyric was produced by the Malay and Chinese teams together, and it has been touching for music fans in the country. This wonderful Malay traditional music and dance has now created awesome Hari Raya vibes.

Previously, the group 1119 created a phenomenon with their song (Good Fortune Comes Soon) for the Chinese New Year. The song, which depicted the festive atmosphere of villages, achieved 11 million views and became the theme song for various supermarkets and convenience stores nationwide. Through "Goyang Raya", 1119 once again proves that the memories of returning to the village and the longing for its atmosphere are priceless values. It is a collective work that unites the hearts of Malaysians through rhythm and culture.

What they say:

1119:

"I am truly grateful to be a part of the Goyang Raya 1119 song and recording. Compared to Raya Ria last year, this year's song feels more traditional and carries a stronger Raya festive spirit, which I can truly feel.

Learning traditional Malay dance is difficult because it requires gentleness and grace that is very different from K-pop or our CNY performances, but we truly enjoyed the performance, and we really loved the K-pop or CNY performances."

Eugene, 1119 Artiste:

"I had a great time being part of the Raya MV shoot. The atmosphere on set was very lively and full of positive energy. I hope when people watch it, they can feel the festive and warm Raya vibes just like we did during the shoot."

Zac Zac:

"Goyang Raya is my first Raya song after 11 years in the industry, and collaborating with 1119 was the right time and choice because it truly represents who I am as a mixed-heritage individual (Malay + Chinese).

I love how it showcases the multicultural side of our country, Malaysia. What made me say yes to this collaboration was, of course, the catchy song, but also 1119's melodies, which have never failed to impress, and their choreography, which always draws people in more to their work.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed both the recording and MV shoot sessions; it was genuinely a lot of fun, but I consider myself lucky to be able to do what I love, alongside a group of people who share the same passion."
