SELAYANG Municipal Council has changed the name of Jalan Berjaya 5 in Taman Berjaya to Jalan 1.

The move was initiated by councillor Anfaal Saari due to confusion caused by the former road name.

There is another street named Jalan Berjaya 5 in a different neighbourhood located about 200m away.

“Delivery workers got confused when sending parcels and postal items, because of the two streets with the same name.

“We hope that by renaming the road in Taman Berjaya, there will no longer be any confusion, ” said Anfaal.

The two housing estates that had streets named Jalan Berjaya 5 were Taman Berjaya and Taman Gombak Tambahan.

“These neighbourhoods are 200m apart, hence the confusion, ” said a Selayang Municipal Council spokesman.

A small ceremony was held to mark the change of the road name recently.
