Taman Fadason residents in Kepong are asking Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to build a recreational park in the area.
They are hoping that the local authority can convert vacant land measuring 21,840sq m at Jalan 2/17, which was meant for a commercial building, into a green lung.
Fadason Park Terrace House Residents Association secretary Muralindran Ramasamy said there was currently no green space for people in the area to exercise.
“We were initially promised a park in the neighbourhood, beside a superlink house project in Taman Fadason.
“The project is now at a standstill and we still do not have our park.
“We have no choice but to go to parks in other areas. This is an inconvenience for the elderly, ” he said during a press conference held in Taman Fadason.
The vacant land is located between Permata Fadason apartments and Fadason Villa, next to another school reserve land.
Kepong Community Service Centre head Yee Poh Ping said there was no green lung in the area and the people there needed a place for recreational purposes.
There are about 3,000 residential and commercial units in the area but there are no parks.
“There are only two small children’s playgrounds, one at a low-cost apartment and the other at a medium-cost apartment.
“Clearly these two playgrounds cannot accommodate all the people here.
“On July 27, I wrote to DBKL’s Valuation and Property Management Department to consider changing that particular plot of land from commercial status to green space for the residents but have yet to receive a reply, ” he said.
