KEK Lok Si Temple in Penang will use the RM20,000 donation that they received for the maintenance and upkeeping of the temple.

The money was donated by Bukit Bendera MP Wong Hon Wai.

Yayasan Kek Lok Si trustee Datuk Seri Steven Ooi said the cost to maintain the temple was quite high.

“The temple covers a big area and we have a many staff members too.

“Besides the fee that we collect for the cable car ride to the top of the hill, we do not collect any other fees like entrance fee at the temple.

“So, we will be channelling the funds for maintenance purposes, ” he said at the temple in Ayer Itam recently.

Ooi also received another RM20,000 donation on behalf of the Sheng Nen childcare centre and senior citizens’ home.

Wong, who presented a mock cheque totalling RM40,000 to Ooi, said the money for Kek Lok Si Temple, Sheng Nen childcare centre (RM10,000) and the senior citizens’ home (RM10,000) was from his constituency allocation.
