Nobat ensemble commit songs to memory and play as one

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu Royal Nobat Ensemble, which played at the installation of Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, is a 10-member royal court orchestra.

The head of the ensemble, Tengku Ibrahim Tengku Ismail, 68, said they used six 99-year-old musical instruments which not only have their own distinctive features but have been played at the palace since 1920.
