Little boy with brain tumour in need of help

ISKANDAR PUTERI: A six-year-old boy, diagnosed with a brain tumour, is in need of financial aid to undergo chemotherapy treatment.

Cheong Shuan Fung, who was diagnosed four years ago is currently undergoing treatment at the Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI).

His father, Cheong Wooi Hong, 43, said after years of treatment, his son was now blind.

“What really worries me is his lack of appetite.

“He is currently warded in HSI due to high fever, and his last session of chemotherapy was on Sunday,” he said.

Cheong said the treatment was done every month, with the frequency depending on his son’s condition.

He said some NGOs came forward to help his son after they found out about his condition through social media.

An NGO, Qiong Min Khek Chow Yek Culture Association is collecting donations through sale of T-shirts. The proceeds from the sales will be donated to help Shuan Fung.

Its chairman, Ang Pi Kui, said the fund-raising event was held in conjunction with the Winter Solstice Festival (Dong Zhi).

“Dong Zhi is also a celebration of togetherness, and we wanted to commemorate that spirit by helping Shuan Fung.

“We don’t have any specific target but all profits that we make from this sale will be given to help the patient,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pulai PKR branch deputy head, Fauziah Mokhtar, said she requested the Johor Welfare Department (JKM) to look into the matter and extend help.

Fauziah urged more people or agencies to ease Shuan Fung’s financial situation.

“We hope Malaysians from all walks of life will extend a helping hand.

At the T-shirt sales event, Fauziah also presented cash donations to Cheong.
