UNDERPRIVILEGED Malaysians now have access to heart surgeries at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur (PHKL) through the Mind Your Heart programme.
It is a corporate social responsibility initiative by Parkway Pantai and represents the company’s commitment to make a positive impact on its community through its group of Pantai and Gleneagles hospitals, including its flagship hospital, Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
“Underprivileged Malaysians are eligible to apply for funding of heart surgeries through the Mind Your Heart Programme.
“More than RM350,000 has been set aside by our hospital to assist with funding for heart surgeries.
“Patients will go through our specialists and be provided access to our healthcare services,” said PHKL chief executive officer Erica Lam.
Heart disease continues to be the leading cause of death among Malaysians, contributing to one in 14 deaths in the country.
The aim of treatments is to improve symptoms and survival of patients.
Through the Mind Your Heart Programme, underprivileged Malaysians can undergo procedures such as angiogram, coronary angioplasty and open-heart bypass surgery at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, with minimal waiting time.
